Phresh Jeggings for Girls size 1-16
Jeggings are not really a complicated sew. To get a good looking pair of jeans, it is all in the fit and details. You will want to buy jean thread - just trust me and buy it - get two spools or three or a dozen cause you are soon going to be in love. Jean thread is stronger than normal thread, it also has some stretch which means your kiddos are not going to be popping stitches as they move and play.
This pattern is designed to be fitted through the hip, thigh and leg - but not as fitted as a cotton lycra legging. I could call them skinny jeans I guess... but I see too many skinny jeans that either look like a regular jean or are so dang tiny that they can't fit on my daughter's booty, and heck - the world was ready for some jeggings ;o)
The length should hit right at the top of your child's foot. Please pay attention to the inseam length in the size chart when determining which length you should cut.
Stretch bottom weights with 20-30% stretch are ideal. (Stretch denim, twill, sateen, corduroy, and plether are great options)
Stable heavy knits with 3-8% spandex/lycra (scuba, stretch sweatshirt fabric, etc..)
If you are trying to use a medium weight performance fabric, or fabric with higher than 40% stretch, you may need to go down one size in width to get the intended fit.
