La Croix Cross Back Top for women size XXS-XXXL

*This is a PDF DIGITAL DOWNLOAD for a pattern, not an actual garment*

(see images for size chart and fabric requirements)

The 'La Croix' Cross Back Top is full of versatility and meant to let your imagination explode. This is a loose fitting top with drape in the cross to give an elegant and flirty flair. Depending on your fabric selections, you can easily dress this up for date night or use simple knits for a trip to the gym. The cross over and delicate neck line bring interest to the garment whether made in solids, prints, or a mix. I wore my long sleeve La Croix (see cover) to New York to see Wicked and Glinda deemed me perfectly dressed to be 'POP-u-lar'.

If you are new to working with knits, here are a few suggestions:
If you have a serger - use it!!! I love my serger on knits because it allows the seams to have a natural give while giving a professional looking finish. Make sure to match your thread to your fabric (I purposefully don't do that in these instruction so that you can see the stitches - but you should match them!!!) Test your machine on a scrap of your fabric to get the settings right.

If you don't have a serger, you can use a long straight stitch, a long and narrow zig zag stitch, or a stretch stitch. Whatever you are most comfortable with and your machine does well.

Test the stretch and recovery of your fabric before sewing. If you pull the fabric and it springs back into place, it has great recovery, if you pull it and it pretty much stays close to where you pulled it to, it does NOT have good recovery. You can use either type of fabric in this pattern, but if you are using a knit without good recovery, you are going to want to do a few things so that the garment doesn't grow 3 sizes while you sew it.
