While these jeans might look complicated, they really are not a difficult sew. To get a good looking pair of jeans, it is all in the fit and details. You will want to buy jean thread - just trust me and buy it - get two spools or three or a dozen cause you are soon going to be in love. Jean thread is stronger than normal thread. It also has some stretch which means your kiddos are not going to be popping any seams in these fitted skinny jeans. (If you don't have jean thread, you can still sew these up, you may just want to reinforce high pressure seams like the crotch and inseam)
When working with jean thread, use it only in your top thread, and make sure you are using a denim needle. I always relax my tension slightly and use a slightly longer than normal stitch.

Topstitching - topstitching is SOOOOOO important to giving jeans an authentic look. It is where you stitch on top of your seams. We will be topstitching everything - I'm not kidding!

This pattern is designed to be fitted through the hip, thigh and leg - but not as fitted as a cotton lycra legging. All kiddos have different shapes, even within the same size. My twins have the most different legs I have ever seen - one has knobby twigs and the other muscular herculean thighs. So, you may need some basic alterations to get a perfect fit.

The length should hit right at the top of your child's foot. Please pay attention to the inseam length in the size chart when determining which length you should cut. You can go with a longer length and cuff the jeans for an alternate look and more longevity to the life of the jeans (well, as long as they grow up and not out).
You have the option of a real zip fly or a faux fly with elastic waistband. The instructions also include how to do buttonhole elastic to customize the fit of the waist.
